The film tells the story of Nelson Sawyer (Nathan Gamble), a boy living aimlessly in Clearwater, Florida with his single mother (Ashley Judd). While cycling in summer school one day, his attention was called to a stranded dolphin who got his tail caught in a crab trap. Although Sawyer called the local naval hospital fast enough to save the life of the porpoise, the head physician, Dr. Clay Haskett (Harry Connick Jr.) has no choice but to amputate the tail. While the dolphin, which was named Winter, was good at first, find out who does irreparable damage to the tail of your spine while swimming. So begins a quest to find someone who can build an artificial winter.
The biggest problem in this film, what you just read above is more than three quarters plot. Although I usually try to avoid the big story of the details of my reviews, Dolphin This requires because of poor pacing and a serious lack of content (that, and all the trailers). The film is not too long - clocking in 113 minutes - but the majority is dedicated to Sawyer swim around the tank dolphin without a tail. To overcome the lack of content, writers Karen Janszen and Noam Dromi try to fill the gaps with the missing half of the stories of his cousin Sawyer working abroad, the hospital is in financial difficulties, and the relationship of the protagonist with the daughter of Dr. Haskett, the Hazel (Zuehlsdorff Cozi). But, as the title suggests, the most important task is to film in the winter, and that history is not nearly long enough to sustain a feature film.
The film is your rose water does not help - either because it is a film about a dolphin injured, you enter the theater waiting for a few tears in good health, but Smith is trying to pull them out of you every minute he can. Most of the operation involves emotional cousin Kyle Sawyer (Austin Stowell), who returns from the army at first because of an injury. The film attempts to draw a parallel between Kyle and winter, which never really clicks, but really, these are the scenes where cousin struggles with his disability simply provoke further tears. Like all emotional manipulation, it can be effective but is also completely unnecessary.
Even so, the younger audience is almost guaranteed to love it. Rufus, the Marine Hospital, a resident pelican, who loves to chase guests around, the only thing that may be of eight years, members of the public to speak for weeks after seeing the film. What's more, Gamble and Zuehlsdorff are perfect substitutes, which means little to see themselves as descendants of Sawyer or Hazel. The film is a strong message not to be lazy, and passionate about learning something that parents will appreciate. It 'a shame that Smith does not really have stories to audiences of all ages.
Dolphin Tale is a film that was because the studio executive had dollar signs in their eyes, watching the Today Show a few years ago. This is a serious lack of significant history and tries too hard to make you cry, but the merit of the film, it has its moments cute, and could inspire a new generation of marine biologists.
